The Urban Aviators Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering underserved and underrepresented youth to explore careers in aviation and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge aviation technologies and facilities, we aim to cultivate a new generation of skilled, confident, and passionate leaders in STEAM and the aviation industry. We are committed to providing accessible educational opportunities that bridge gaps in representation and cultivate a lifelong love for innovation and flight.
The Urban Aviators Society was founded by a passionate aviation enthusiast with a simple yet bold mission: to make aviation accessible to everyone, no matter their background or where they come from. The aviation industry faces a challenge, and communities with untapped potential often lack the resources to explore the limitless opportunities this field offers. Through initiatives like Aviation Futures, where youth experience the thrill of flight, and AeroSTEAM, which connects classroom concepts to real-world innovation, we’ve been able to unlock potential and help our youth chart exciting paths forward.

What We Do:
STEAM Workshops: These workshops incorporate hands-on activities, such as flight simulators, engineering challenges, and aviation-themed STEAM kits, allowing students to explore key concepts like aerodynamics, navigation, and aircraft design. By connecting STEAM principles to real-world aviation scenarios, we inspire curiosity, build confidence, and spark interest in aviation careers, empowering our youth to see themselves as future innovators and leaders.
Mentorships: Aviation mentorship is vital to pilot training and career development, providing invaluable guidance and support from experienced professionals to aspiring aviators. Through mentorship, individuals acquire technical skills and gain valuable insights into the industry, fostering growth, confidence, and a strong sense of community within the aviation field.
Aviation Tours: The Urban Aviators Society organizes tours of various aviation facilities, including airports, aircraft maintenance facilities, and air traffic control centers. Through these experiences, students gain valuable insights into different career paths within the industry and are inspired by the innovation and excitement of aerospace technology.
Workforce Development: Addressing the aviation industry as a whole, including the rapidly expanding drone sector, is essential to meeting the increasing demand for skilled professionals in areas such as engineering, software development, flight operations, data analysis, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. With cultivating specialized training programs, certification pathways, and strong partnerships with educational institutions, the industry can build a robust pipeline of qualified talent. Integrating general life skills such as critical thinking, communication, and adaptability into these programs will not only prepare individuals for technical roles but also equip them to thrive in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment. This approach supports both current workforce needs and the future evolution of aviation technologies.

Flight Instruction: Through the generous support of grants and donations, the Urban Aviators Society offers youth the opportunity to begin their journey toward becoming a pilot by connecting them with certified flight instructors for comprehensive flight instruction. These personalized experiences introduce beginners to the fundamentals of aviation while helping more experienced students enhance their skills. Each student receives tailored guidance from these dedicated instructors, ensuring their individual goals and abilities are supported as they progress toward achieving their aviation dreams.
Community Outreach: We are committed to supporting the community through impactful outreach initiatives that bring hope and joy to families in need. Our annual Back-to-School Drive ensures that students are equipped for success by providing them with essential school supplies and backpacks. During the holiday season, our Christmas Coat and Toy Drive spread warmth and cheer by distributing winter coats to children and adults and gifting toys to kids.
